NSW Fair Trading Commissioner Rose Webb has warned consumers not to deal with any persons or businesses offering pest control services using pesticides where those persons and businesses aren't properly licensed pest management technicians. Look at reviews online and remember that if the price sounds too good to be true, it usually is.
NSW Fair Trading has also received complaints about unsatisfactory pest control services provided by unlicensed operators. A pest management technician licence issued under the Pesticides Act is required to use pesticides, or to carry on a business using pesticides, for fee or reward and in other circumstances. Persons must have appropriate training and be assessed as fit and proper to be granted a pest management technician licence. Licence holders are subject to stringent requirements to keep records and to notify others of pesticide use.
